Amaro Freitas was born in Recife and has carved a path from the margins to the international jazz stage. His self-taught formation, shaped by the evangelical church and the popular rhythms of Brazil’s northeast, became a language of its own: a piano that does not imitate, but invents. With Jean Elton and Hugo Medeiros he has built a trio that operates as both rhythmic and spiritual laboratory, transforming Afro-Brazilian memory into contemporary sonic architecture. For Freitas, music is not entertainment but a quest: each album is an act of resistance and a reminder that jazz, in his hands, is root, future, and poetic justice.
