Emilie-Claire Barlow — Singer, Arranger and Producer

Emilie-Claire Barlow is a Canadian singer, arranger and producer from Toronto whose work connects vocal jazz with popular repertoire across generations. Her career encompasses performances in English, French and Portuguese, alongside an extensive body of work as an arranger and producer of her own recordings.

Raised in a family of professional musicians, Barlow studied piano, cello, clarinet and violin before developing her training in voice, music theory and arranging. She released her debut album, Sings, in 1998 and went on to build a discography that includes The Very Thought of You, The Beat Goes On, Seule ce soir, Clear Day and Spark Bird.

Her musical language approaches interpretation and arrangement as parts of the same creative process. This perspective has allowed her to move between jazz standards, Brazilian music, chanson, and contemporary compositions drawn from pop and other musical traditions.

Her accolades include JUNO Awards for Seule ce soir and Clear Day in the vocal jazz category, as well as a Producer of the Year nomination for her work on the latter.
