Kokoroko – Septet & collective

Kokoroko has carved a path that has taken them from London’s improvised music scene to becoming the architects of a global, borderless sound. Their name, an Urhobo word meaning "be strong," reflects a language of its own: music that does not imitate, but manifests. Led by Sheila Maurice-Grey and Onome Edgeworth, they have consolidated a group that operates as a laboratory of genre and style, capable of transforming the energy of West-African heritage into contemporary sonic architecture.

For Kokoroko, music is a quest for ownership and identity: each album is an act of manifestation and a reminder that jazz is root, future, and poetic justice.
