Monument – Portico Quartet

Monument is a studio album by Portico Quartet, released in 2021 by Gondwana Records. The record was developed alongside Terrain, although the two albums explore different directions within the group’s musical language.

Composed by Duncan Bellamy and Jack Wyllie, Monument concentrates its ideas into ten concise pieces built around repetitive patterns, synthesizers, percussion, saxophone, and electronic elements.

The album features Milo Fitzpatrick on bass and Keir Vine on keyboards, with additional contributions from Francesca Ter-Berg on cello and Simmy Singh on violin. Its sound connects jazz, minimalism, ambient, post-rock, and electronic music through structures defined by rhythmic precision.
