New Gospel Revisited – Marquis Hill

New Gospel Revisited is a live album by American trumpeter and composer Marquis Hill, released by Edition Records on March 18, 2022. It revisits and reinterprets the compositions from New Gospel, his 2011 debut.

The album was recorded on December 8, 2019, at Constellation in Chicago, with a sextet featuring Hill on trumpet, Walter Smith III on tenor saxophone, Joel Ross on vibraphone, James Francies on piano, Harish Raghavan on bass, and Kendrick Scott on drums.

Produced by Marquis Hill, New Gospel Revisited documents the evolution of his early compositions through a new ensemble and the spontaneity of an unedited live performance.
