Soley – Grégory Privat

Soley is an album by pianist and composer Grégory Privat, released on his independent label Buddham Jazz Records, focusing on the convergence between the contemporary jazz tradition and the cultural roots of Martinique.

The album is recorded in a classic trio format alongside Chris Jennings (double bass) and Tilo Bertholo (drums). Over the course of 15 tracks, the musicians pour their expertise into articulating an acoustic dialogue that incorporates subtle elements of electronic fusion, soul, and Afro-Caribbean rhythmic heritage.

The compositional approach finds its middle ground between lyrical introspection and metric flexibility, ensuring that collective interaction determines the dynamics of the tracks.
