Trumpets of Michel-Ange – Ibrahim Maalouf

Trumpets of Michel-Ange is the sixteenth studio album by French-Lebanese trumpeter and composer Ibrahim Maalouf, conceived as a conceptual work centered on intergenerational transmission and the educational value of the quarter-tone trumpet.

The repertoire is structured around a thematic narrative that evokes nuptial celebration rituals and the family life cycle. Musically, the project blends elements of contemporary jazz, traditional Arabic music, and global textures, featuring instrumental collaborations from international figures such as Toumani DiabatéTrombone ShortyEndea Owens, and saxophonist Mihai Pîrvan.

The album documents the international reach of microtonal brass playing, serving also as a global platform for the instrument invented by his father, Nassim Maalouf.
