100 – Escalandrum

100 is an album by Escalandrum dedicated to the music of Astor Piazzolla, released in 2021 to mark the centenary of his birth.

The record brings together compositions including “Primavera Porteña,” “Soledad,” “La Muralla China,” “Milonga en Re,” “Adiós Nonino,” and “Michelangelo 70,” reinterpreted through arrangements that bring Piazzolla's musical language into the realm of jazz improvisation.

The sessions took place at Abbey Road Studios in London and Estudios ION in Buenos Aires. On the Suite Troileana, the sextet also incorporates a previously unreleased recording of Astor Piazzolla playing bandoneon, captured at ION during the 1970s.

The lineup features Daniel “Pipi” Piazzolla, Nicolás Guerschberg, Mariano Sívori, Gustavo Musso, Damián Fogiel, and Martín Pantyrer, whose collective interplay preserves the identity of the compositions while expanding their rhythmic and harmonic possibilities.
