Feel Good Music – Endea Owens

Feel Good Music is the debut album by American bassist, composer, and bandleader Endea Owens, released on September 1, 2023, with her ensemble The Cookout.

Produced by Owens and co-produced by Louis Cato, the album brings together original compositions connecting jazz, gospel, funk, blues, swing, and West African rhythms with the musical roots of her native Detroit.

The recording features Keith Brown, Jonathan Thomas, John Davis, Lee Pearson, Kris Johnson, Louis Fouché, Jeffery Miller, Negah Santos, and Jacqueline Acevedo, alongside vocalists J Hoard and Shenel Johns.

Through pieces including “Feel Good,” “Where the Nubians Grow,” and “For the People,” the album explores identity, memory, resilience, and community through writing designed to preserve the music’s collective character.
