HOME.S. – Esbjörn Svensson
HOME.S. is the only solo piano album by Esbjörn Svensson, the Swedish pianist and composer best known for leading the Esbjörn Svensson Trio (e.s.t.).
The nine pieces were recorded by Svensson at his home studio in Sweden just weeks before his death on June 14, 2008. The recordings remained unreleased for years until his wife, Eva Svensson, discovered them on a hard drive in her personal archive.
Named after letters of the Greek alphabet, from “Alpha” to “Iota,” the compositions reveal an introspective language where jazz and improvisation converge with elements drawn from the classical piano tradition.
Released posthumously in 2022, HOME.S. occupies a singular place in Svensson’s discography, documenting him outside the trio format that defined much of his career.
