Kamaal Williams – Keyboardist and Architect of the Groove

Kamaal Williams is one of the most influential musicians in the new London contemporary jazz scene. His work combines the jazz-funk tradition with elements of hip-hop, electronica, and club culture, creating a musical language centered on the power of the groove.

Williams achieved international recognition with the Yussef Kamaal project alongside drummer Yussef Dayes, whose album Black Focus became a benchmark within the British jazz renaissance.

Following the duo's split, Williams continued to develop his musical vision through his own projects, where the Fender Rhodes, improvisation, and funk rhythms serve as the core pillars of his sound. His albums explore contemporary jazz as an open form that dialogues with urban culture, hip-hop, and electronic music.
