Portico Quartet – Jazz, Minimalism and Electronic Music
Portico Quartet is a British instrumental group formed in London whose musical language combines jazz, minimalism, ambient, electronic music, and post-rock.
The group has developed a distinctive identity around Jack Wyllie’s saxophone and Duncan Bellamy’s percussion and hang, alongside structures built on repetitive patterns, electronic textures, and gradual transformations.
Throughout their discography, Portico Quartet have continually shifted the balance between acoustic instrumentation and electronic production. Albums such as Terrain and Monument, developed in parallel, reveal two ends of that language: ambient expansion and concentrated rhythmic composition.
