Pacifiques Biches is the culmination of a transatlantic journey where European jazz breaks its moorings to merge with the vastness of the Pacific. After decades of exploring hard bop, afrobeat, and the electric currents of Rio, Parisian pianist Florian Pellissier guides his quintet toward a territory of expansive peace and spiritual abstraction.

In this seventh work, the group abandons the frenzy of their previous releases to embrace the serenity of the Californian coast. It is an album of wide horizons, where the organic textures of the quintet—unchanged since 2001—intertwine with synthetic layers and the warmth of the Fender Rhodes. Featuring guests such as Iggy Pop, Archie Shepp, and DjeuhDjoah, Pacifiques Biches unfolds like a sonic kaleidoscope capturing the moment the sun is swallowed by the ocean, leaving behind a trail of hypnotic grooves and meditative elegance.
