S.H.A.M.A.N.E.S – Anne Paceo

S.H.A.M.A.N.E.S is the seventh studio album by French drummer, composer, and singer Anne Paceo, released in March 2022. The project originated in a new work developed for the Jazz sous les Pommiers festival in 2020.

Inspired by musical and vocal practices associated with shamanic traditions from Bali, Haiti, Siberia, and Brazil, Paceobuilds her own language around voice, percussion, repetition, and trance without attempting to reproduce those traditions.

The ensemble brings together Isabel Sörling and Marion Rampal on vocals, Christophe Panzani on saxophones and bass clarinet, Tony Paeleman on piano, Fender Rhodes, and Bass Station, Benjamin Flament on metallophone and drums, and Anne Paceo on drums, vocals, and kamale n’goni.

Across eleven compositions, S.H.A.M.A.N.E.S expands Paceo’s language into a territory where jazz, song, electronic textures, and rhythmic structures coexist within the same sonic exploration.
