Zhengtao Pan – Composer and Conductor

Zhengtao Pan is a Chinese-born composer, arranger, conductor, and pianist based in the United States, whose artistic approach stands out in the realms of avant-garde large-ensemble jazz, classical concert music, and soundtrack composition for visual media.

His solid technical background includes a double bachelor's degree in Jazz Composition and Classical Composition from Berklee College of Music, complemented by graduate studies at the Eastman School of Music under the tutelage of mentors such as Steven Feifke and Miho Hazama.

His musical language is characterized by a sophisticated harmonic architecture that blends the textures of European impressionism with traditional folkloric motifs from Shanghai and the rhythmic flexibility of contemporary jazz.

Leading the Zhengtao Pan Jazz Orchestra, he has consolidated his role as a bandleader, collaborating on his recording projects with figures of the caliber of Walter Smith III, Rufus Reid, Steve Wilson, and Sara Gazarek. Furthermore, his technical versatility has led him to compose for prominent international ensembles such as the Budapest Scoring Orchestra, the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, and the Eastman New Jazz Ensemble, as well as signing scores for major global projects in the video game industry.
